Truth be told, I’m more of a cupcake girl than a donut one, but was admittedly intrigued when I read rave reviews about a new shop called glazed & infused.  We visited the West Loop location, they have two, stumbling upon a nondescript building with six oblong windows and a temporary identifying sign posted above them. The staff was decked out in 1940′s inspired garb, complete with head scarf and surrounded by those posters featuring brazenly strong women.  The interior was simple, notably sparce…by design for undistracted focus on the donuts, I suppose.

The donuts are hand crafted daily, made from whole ingredients using trans fat-free shortening.  When I say that they melt in your mouth, it is no exaggeration. We sampled the vanilla glazed, coconut, red velvet, and my husband tried the pb & j.  Then the owner was kind enough to send us home with samples of the selections we didn’t try, gratis. They also offer a selection of hot and cold beverages. If you ever find yourself in Chicago, do your sweet tooth a favor and stop in for a donut or two!
